Roger Dubuis - Craftsmanship and extravagance
Roger Dubuis has not strayed from the initial course he set fifteen years ago. The brand is firmly attached to the domain of watchmaking excellence. It broke into the world of fine watchmaking, winning acceptance and recognition in record time. The company first saw the light in Geneva in 1995 thanks to a talented master watchmaker – Roger Dubuis – and its remarkable dynamism rapidly created a stir in the world of Haute Horlogerie, while its unconventional watches with their happy marriage of traditional watchmaking know-how and avant-garde design made an immediate impression.
Style and substance
Strong on creativity, the brand has channeled its action, philosophy, and communication into four product areas each with its own character. Four distinct worlds – Player, Warrior, Venturer and Diva – which inspire the designers to create exceptional watches. The collections are powerful, bold and modern. They combine technical performance and aesthetic qualities. Instantly identifiable, the Excalibur, Excalibur Lady and La Monégasque lines embody the brand’s DNA. A notched bezel and triple bracelet lugs are the signatures of the Excalibur collection, which is home to a wide variety of movements, ranging from the elementary combination of hours, minutes and small seconds to the most impressive grand complications. Kingsquare stands out with its square case, triple plane curved glass and angular look. EasyDiver is an extrapolation of the Excalibur case, but reinforced, muscular, to reflect its sporting function. For the ladies, the Excalibur Lady line shines with its formal quality and houses mechanical movements of fine workmanship. Launched in 2011, the La Monégasque collection is characterized by the slender lines of its case, its round dial which seems to stretch the outlines of the bezel, creating a novel and original shape. The models in the collection go for boldness and offer a contemporary take on watchmaking codes steeped in tradition.
Complications large and small
Totally integrated, the Roger Dubuis manufacture produces all of its movement parts in-house, including the balance-hairspring, the strategic heart of the mechanical watch – a rare feat. Roger Dubuis constructors and developers have developed some thirty complex mechanical movements, exclusively destined for use in Roger Dubuis watches. The Geneva manufacture has made a specialty of tourbillons and double flying tourbillons as well as very structured and contemporary skeleton movements.
Among the certifications of the watchmaking world, the Geneva Seal is certainly the most prestigious. It is subject to a set of particularly restrictive aesthetic rules, which define standards of workmanship and decoration of movements. Reserved for watches assembled and finished in the Canton of Geneva, it requires meticulous processes that give movements the inner beauty which characterizes Haute Horlogerie. Roger Dubuis has the Seal put on every watch produced. It is the only watch firm to have made this systematic choice, which commits the brand to extreme dependability. By marrying finely wrought movements with large exuberant cases and expressive dials, it makes light of conventions and catches the eye.
